Question Sale of DCR-PC350

Hi All
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I am asking a question previously asked. I have searched the various threads and can't see where my question has previously been asked.
I am currently looking to upgrade from my clunky Sony TRV120E and am interested in the Sony DCR-PC350.
Looking at Cnet, they give an "Editor's Choice" recommendation. However, when I go to both the USA & Aust. Sony sites they both say that model is no longer for sale.
Can anyone tell me if this is an 'old' model' or whether there have been faults causing it to be withdrawn.
I have to say that it looked ideal for my purposes.
Thks

Yes. It is a model that is at least three years old. It was replaced by the PC1000, the last vertical style cam that Sony produced and that was two years ago. If you are looking for a good Sony Standard Definition (SD) miniDVcam that is currently available, I'd look at the HC96:

If one of your main criteria is the veritical form factor, Canon makes an HDV10 model that records in High Definition (HDV) to miniDV tape:

I would warn though that vertical form factor cams have more battery "lasting a long time on each charge" issues. It's one complaint I have heard against the HV10.

If you want the current state of the art High Definition HDV cams (they record to miniDV tapes) look at the Sony HC5, Sony HC7, and the Canon HV20.
