Avid won't recognize cameras

I have two GL-2 cameras. One is older and is recognized fine by AVID Express. The new one is not recognized. I also ran a test with Final Cut Pro and that doesn't recognize it either. I'm having the same problem with a deck, as well. Could I really just have multiple bad DV out ports or can this be a driver issue? I'm lost. Any suggestions. Thanks

I had this problem too and it turned out that while my PV-gs400 was detected by windows yet not by any editing program that it was in fact a problem with the firewire port on the camera. I ended up getting a cheap $200 minidv cam for tape transfer and it has worked great.
