I need some advice and was not sure which Blog to address.

I have a Sony DCR-TRV17 that does not power up. I have had
the batterries, the battery charger and the AC Power adapter
checked at a local repair shop and those are not the problem.

The Sony repair facitlity will take a look at it for a base price of $310.00!! (plus shipping)

This was a $1,000 camera, back in the day. What do I do? Fix it or
pitch it and buy new?
