Canon XH-A1 Hotshoe light and ext. Mic ??

can anyone recommend a good light source for the hotshoe on the canon XH-A1 . Preferably one that can be adjusted to different angles. I've looked at the Canon VL10 through websites but it doesn't say if it can be adjusted to direct the light at any other direction than straight in front of the camera.

Could you please recommend a high quality external mic for use on the XH-A1.

Any info. would be much appreciated.
Thanks Dave.

I use the FREZZI MICRO-FILL and a SACHTLER REPORTER. Some owners use the larger MINI-FILL FREZZOLINI. Do a GOOGLE to make up your mind.

RODE MICROPHONE makes the NTG-1 model which is popular and has good reviews due to the affordable pricing and sound quality.

However, I am in no way endorsing any particular product.

I'd also recommend the RODE NTG-1 as a good choice at around $250. It's a short shotgun with good bang for buck. The $479 Sennheiser ME66/K6 is also a popular choice, however, I don't think the sound quality is much better for double the price of the RODE. If I was going to go that high, I'd probably go for the Audio Technica 4073A if spending $500+

Litepanels has some cool on-camera lights. A new one should be in the $300 range running on four AA batteries for 2008. It's called the LP-Micro.
