Specs on that say Secure digital, doesnt say SD or SDHC. I wouldnt buy that unless u can confirm it reads SDHC cards.
Have u considered buying a cheap laptop for the same price? U can also buy a USB SDHC card reader. May not exactly suit your need but its very efficient, u can plug additional external USB hard drives to it later as needed.

thing is i am going to Europe for 2 weeks and everything i am taking is going on my back so i really dont want my laptop to get stolen or broken.
Also i have read some reviews that it is compatible with sdhc cards or atleast the 2g ones so i need to find out if it is compatible with the 4 g that came with the camera.
Main thing is that it is expensive peice, but compared to having 40gb's of cards it's still cheaper from what i can tell

SDHC Drive
The Epson User Manual is on line:
http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/p3k___/p3k___ug.pdf
SD High Capacity cards are mentioned but limit the capacity to 2gb. The manual could have been printed before higher capacities were available.
Page 30 lists the supported video file formats. Apparently, none are HD. 720 x 576 pixels max.

I guess i just figured that since the epson supported h.264 that it was hd and frankly i don't need HD quality, just as long as it's clear i fine with it. There is still a lot i have to learn. And thanks for your find pfcurtis!

I'm looking for the same thing as you are, and I certainly don't want to burn all my nice video to horrid DVD.
Have you looked at OTG (On The Go) equipped external 2.5" HDD enclosures like this one which costs about GBP28:
http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/s....2/category.3/.f
You just hook it up to the SD1 with a USB A-to-B cable (OTG USB HDD being the host) and away you go.
Now, all these things claim USB2 transfer speeds but we all know that this means nothing in the real world and it would be great to get some feedback fom somebody who has actually used one and so knows how long it takes to transfer 8GB from an SDHC card to the OTG HDD.

update
I went ahead and got the epson p-3000. My intial thoughts are: It has a beautiful screen for photos, the video playback can be a little choppy but not too bad, the music playback is fine, but hey thats what the ipod's for. Using the sdhc(the 4gb class 2 that came with the sd1) cards are fine; the downloading is pretty quick. It recognizes the jpg images fine. However, since the sd1 shoots in a pretty new format, it will not recognise the files like an avi or mp4 video, but in the settings you can set it to show unsupported files and viola!, the mts files show up along with some other random ones which puzzled me. Then i checked by hooking up the epson up to the computer to see what i was going to get, sure enough it displayed all the files just it would have if i stuck the card into the computer. I believe the extra random files are all part of the organization of the actual footage so nothing to worry about. It looks like now i'll have plenty of room to shoot what i see in europe, as long as the camera battery holds out!
cliff notes: excellent still image viewer, a good hard drive for storage and will work with SDHC as well as SD1 video, just dont expect to watch it on the 4in screen, cuz it ain't

I have a Nexto OTG w/ a 120GB drive in it. Works FANTASTIC. Had to get a 17-in-1 adapter over ebay from hong kong so that I could use SDHC with it.
Took it to Africa with me where I was away from power for 2 weeks, performed smashingly. I don't hook it up as USB as you'll drain camera and nexto then, instead just take the card and use it on the nexto in a card adapter.
