GZ-MG505EK or GZ-MG575EK

Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me.

It's my first time in buying a camcorder and I have narrowed my shortlist down to these two models. However, I get the impression that the MG505 has been discontinued, and replaced with the MG575 is this correct?

There is a feature on the JVC site that allows you to compare the different technical specs on both models against each other.

It's just that the MG575 seems to have some aspects missing on it that it's predecessor had.

I'm just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me please.

Many thanks in advance for any help given.

I have the MG505 and I had used the MG555 quite extensively.

To my understanding, the only feature that the MG505 have and the MG555/575 don't is the zoom feature during playback of video/photo.

Other than that, the newer model have way more features like video light, AV in/out, neutral density filter (it is a real physical filter built right between the lens & the imager. I can see that thing popping in/out when I click the switch), color control (vivid/natural), on screen message on/off, sleep mode (for faster start-up)....etc.

But personally, I like the output of the MG505 better, the final product have less noise in both video & photo. That's my very personally observation. I had a link some where back in this forum to some videos & photos I'd taken with both camcorder side by side. Have a look, a picture is better than a thousand words.
