Trouble at Startup

I have a DSR-PDX10 and I use it in a school. One of the students swiveled the camera on the tripod too fast and broke the AC Adapter connection. I have sinced replaced the AC adapter(Old and new AC adapter are the same specs).

I have had the camera plugged in to the wall for a week now since the new AC adapter has came in. When I turn on the camera to VCR; It lights up "Sony infolithium System and goes to the blue screen. About 3 seconds later the battery life secion disappears then the Remaining tape line disappears and then the blue screen flashes blue and black repeatedly and a single beep sounds repeatedly. It almost sounds like the camera is trying to go off the battery only and not the power cord.

Any ideas?

Old AC Adapter Specs: 100-240v 50/60Hz 23w
New AC Adapter Specs: 100-240v 50/60Hz 23w

Thanks,
Aaron
