FX7 rec delay?

Hi

Im looking for my 2nd camcorder, is true that the Fx7 has a huge delay ( about 6 seconds ) between when you press the rec buttom and when it really start to record?

It depends. If it's like the FX1, there are three different scenarios.

If it's in STBY mode, recording is instantaneous.

If it's in post-standby "sleep" mode (which all tape cams go into after about five minutes to save wear on the drum) then yes, it could take 6 or 7 seconds for the heads to spin up and begin recording.

If it's direct from power-off to record, it could take even longer as the cam boots up and goes into cam record mode.

I timed all three situations on my FX1 and posted the results somewhere... I'll see if I can find the thread.

Edit: here it is...
