Where can i get a new head fo gs-180

After having a lot of problems with dirty head the worse came true
The head is damagged. Here in Brazil they want US$290,00 to replace the head. The more expansive here is the head, how much it cost in U.S.A? I will be at Hawaii and California does anyone know if i can purchase the head?

I expect that the head is sold as a unit with the entire tape drive mechanism (the cartridge carrier, motor, guide pulleys, etc.)... And yes, replacing that IS expensive -- I found it more economical to buy a new Optura 40 when the carrier mechanism of my Optura 20 started binding (won't go in all the way to let one use the tape, nor come out far enough to eject the tape). At the time, with labor, it would have cost $450+ to repair the 20, and I found the 40 on Amazon for less than $800.

yeah but im trying to do is something different

Brasil
Head = Expensive
Labor = Cheap

U.S.A
Head = Cheaper than Brasil
Labor= More Expensive than Brasil

At U.S.A and some other countrys when something is broken they (you) bought a new one cause the service is almost the price of a new one.
Here in Brasil when you dont need replace anything inside the eletronic the service will be cheap. (not my case)

So will i catch the head at U.S.A and use the Service Here.

Is possible?
Price of he head?
