YouTube Videos & VX2100

I have been comtemplating upgrading my Sony PC1000 to a VX2100 for the last month and wanted to get some feedback/advice. I currently shoot web videos for youtube and other video sharing sites. The main attraction for the VX2100 is the low light capability along with the overall user's feedback on exceptional video quality. My current PC1000 lacks in the low light category severly. I shoot mainly indoors and I end up brightening the videos up by 30% in premiere pro.

I have noticed the video quality on youtube to be rather poor and I'm looking for ways to increase this. I have tried just about every rendering option (wmv, mov, flash, mpeg-4) and I'm still not satisfied. I have seen other videos on youtube to be exceptional quality and my main question is whether or not this is specifically dependent on the source used (video camera). If I end up upgrading to the VX2100, will this drastically increase the quality of the videos on youtube and other video sharing sites?

Thanks!

I seriously doubt upgrading to the VX2100 will drastically increase the quality of the videos on YouTube.

It appears to not be so much the source but how it is encoded. There is a lot of opinions in how to be encode video for youTube. But there is always a loss of video quality. This is the latest I have seen:
Compressing Footage For YouTube by wallyworld
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/sh...ad.php?t=138386
Which has some sample high definition.

Note that youTube is changing their encoding, so what worked well several months ago may not be the best now.

My best results have been MP4 about 1 Megabit per second and image size 720 * 480 (I am guessing from memory).

All of this video was shot with a vx2100 and run through premiere however, the encoding is different on some of the later clips. WINAVI was used to encode instead of Premiere.

It's best to leave your video 320x240 (The size they use) and encode it to be the best video quality possible, with the final size being 99mb (Their limit is 100mb). That way your video is as good as possible before they re-encode it. You get pretty choppy video when you encode your stuff to look pretty good, or borderline when it get's sent up.

I have a 2100 that I'm thinking about selling, too many bells and whistles for a guy that uses it 3 times a year. I'm not on the board too much but I don't see a classified section, is there one? Sorry for the off topic post.

Umm...there is. And no, you don't have to dig deep to find it. You do have to scroll down.

Actually, 'dig deep' would tend to indicate the page is hard to find - like you have to do multiple clicks to get there or it's only found on the site map or something. Scrolling down is pretty elementary, IMO.

It depends on what you consider to be the "Main Page"/ Look here, the main page of the "Message Boards" Classified Ads are near the bottom: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/

Yes, I know. I was joking. I was agreeing with you.
