Capturing question

For lack of anything better, I am using a consumer Sony mini DV camera to capture my media into FCP, and after logging dozens of clips I'm concerned that the little fellow won't be able to handle the entire job. I've got about fifteen hours of footage, and I've been logging each shot and each take seperately, which is probably putting quite a strain on the camera. Would it be better to capture the footage in their ten-minute camera roll lengths instead?

Any advice would be appreciated!
