Question Picture Motion for DVD403

Has anyone used the new Picture Motion package for Vista with the 403? From what I understand, it does a much better job of downloading the video off the DVD and gives them logical names based on the date of the clip, not the date of the download.

I thought I'd ask and see rather than throw away the $30 or $40 they want for it. I'd gladly pay the money if it would name the files logically.

Thanks,
-Jack

I haven't seen anything about it, but would be interested in hearing about it if you find out anything more...

You can download it for free if from Sony.net. You need your camera serial number and the part number off your picture package CDROM. It will only install and run on Vista.

It is slower than picture package but it works. I've only tried it on one machine (only one vista box in the house) but it would not read the miniDVD's from the PC's dvd drive. This is likely a PC issue.

It creates the files named in YYYYMMDDnn.mpg format with the date being the date recorded! This was huge for me.

It plays with the Dolby digital, so it doesn't screw up the audio.

I personally do not care about the other features, so I have not explored them.

We did have some issues getting double-sided (not double layer) disks to read. Separate issue I'm about to post in a new topic.
