Worth the upgrade?

I am currently using ULead Video Studio 9 SE which came with my Samsung Camcorder. For whatever reason, it was a real pain to get working, but once I did I found it that I enjoy using it.

But, I'm always looking for newer and better things, so I did a bunch of research on different video editing software. I saw that ULead has v11 out for sale and that if I upgrade from the version I have it will only cost me $60.

I read on here that unless you have an HD camcorder, it's not worth it to go from v10 to v11. So would it be worth it to go from v9 to v11? I understand there is a free trial that can be downloaded, and I did that but I had a bit of trouble with my computer and it will no longer load (it said some security thing was activated...) so I wasn't able to actually compare and determine for myself if it was worth the upgrade.

Thanks in advance!

VS 11 is the first release of VS since Corel took over InterVideo who had, in turn, taken over Ulead. Still with me?
Here is my VERY brief take on it.

Anyway, on the plus side:
Version 10 and 11 have enhanced ability to handle Dolby 5:1 sound and mixing.
Version 11 is desigend to be fully compatible with Vista.
Version 10 and 11 have a space on the timeline that displays the wave pattern of your sound track so that makes syncing to the music easier. BUT, it is small and hard to see. Version 11 added a feature where you can tap the keyboard along with the beat of the music to place beat markers for scene change sync. That's good!
Version 11 is more up to date (as much as anyone can be!) with the latest develpoments in High Definition files.

On the downside:
They changed the capture plugin so now VS11 will not capture from any analogue source, even an analogue source going thru a digital cam.
It is reportedly a bit unstable due to it being a fairly new build to accomodate Vista and Hi Def etc.
There is nothing particularly new and exciting in it and it still can be a little finicky with MPEG files.

I have opted to skip VS11, I have 10 and I use Mini DV and it's just fine. They have been VERY slow in issuing a patch for the current version's problems but it is supposed to arrive by Christmas...they say. VS12 is probably 6 to 8 months away. If VS9 is still serving your needs effectively then see what you think of 12.
Yes there is currently a cheaper upgrade from your version to 11 but I would still wait, when the new version comes out you will still qualify for the cheaper upgrade...maybe not AS cheap but certainly not full price.

Thanks for that reply. I appreciate it. Version 9 works just fine for me, so I guess I'll wait for 12!
