Question HC-1 will not switch off

Today I noiticed that my HC1 will not switch off. I push the power/mode switch to off, the screen goes blue but instead of turning off, it starts up again in tape record mode (even if switched off in photo or edit mode). I tried scanning the forum but could not find a similar problem. Anyone esle come across this issue, did I miss a thread somewhere?

Have you tried removing the battery? And the RESET button (possibly on the tape door; at least that's where it is on the HC3)?

Yes, removing the battery does work, but I am not sure whether the tape is being stuck in the mechanism. Normally when you switch off, you can hear the tape being freed.

I will look for a RESET button, if anyone with an HC-1 knows where it is, please do let me know.

According to page 29 of your manual, it's underneath the flip-out LCD screen, below the AUTO LOCK switch.

Did you try it, and did it solve your problem?

Tired a reset, but I still seem to have the same problem, but at random. Will try treplacing the button battery, see if that helps.
