NV-GS60 jammed?? wont turn on??

Ok, this is my first time here and i really need to fix this problem, i own a NV-GS60 Camera and its been sitting in my room for maybe a month untouched.

the problem is, i tryed using it today and recharged the battery but the camera is stale. it wont turn on, and when i use the direct adapter to my powerpoint it still remains the same - DEAD.

i was talking to some one about this and they asked me if i was filiming or viewing when the camera died.

my answer - yes.

he said that the tape might have jammed the motor as there was no power to stop the tape and therefor - the tape is still in its viewing - recording position (you know how the little flap folds and and stuff)

is this really the problem?
and if so how can i get the tape out without damaging the camera.
-
any help and advice will be appreciated as i cant find any trouble shoot on the internet.

kind regards rob.
