PD150 - lots of questions

Since mr. Chris Hurd is not in a right mood for last three weeks and he doesn't want to activate my account on dvinfo.net not even answer on at least one of five emails from me, it seems this is the only place where I can get answers on my questions...

I just got PD150 - used, but in a very good condition. Almost no scratches, everything seems to work just fine.
Except for 'SET CLOCK' message every time when I power up camera.
As I know there is a problem with internal batteries which holds camera settings and they need to be charging up again or replaced.
So the question is - there is the batteries?
I can easily replace them by my self - only if I know where they are and where I can get new batteries...
Any one of you have any ideas?

Next is a memory stick.
What kind of stick I can use for PD150?
Is it still for sale somewhere or I have to hunt it down on ebay?:O)
Or I can use some of the new models?
I can store my custom settings for camera on MS, right?

Light...
I was looking for Lowel Pro-light, but couldn't figure out what kind of softbox I can use for this light. Any recommendations?

Or should I look for other model?
Lowel seems to be pretty much good and price fits exact at my budget.
But this is an old model, may be something new better and cheaper - right now on market?

Tripod - Davis & Sanford ProVista 7518 Professional Video Tripod W/75MM C BALL FM18 Fluid Head. Good or bad?:O)

Charger - Sony ACVQ1050D. Dual batteries and I can use it as adapter too. Batteries - two SONY NP-F970.

Wireless and on-camera mic. I'm lost :O(
Need your help - but keep in mind I couldn't afford SH or AT for $600-900 :O(

Filters. Protection etc - need your help.

And wide angle lens. What should I get?

Heh... Lots of questions, most of them seems to be pretty much stupid :O) I'm an editing guy with more than 9 years of expirience, BUT this is my first camera, so please forgive my noobish style:O)))
It seems you'r my only hope so far...

Thanks in advance!

There are already a couple of extensive threads on the internal battery issue at DVinfo, and the posts include exploded views of where to find the batteries and how to replace them. So I think that with a little searching you may be able to find what you need over there...

Many of your other questions (i.e. tripod, mics, etc.) are also discussed extensively over there, as well as in the Accessories forums here. I think that with a little reading you'll get a bunch of good answers.

Hi!
There is no answer for internal battery on DVInfo - instead there is a lots of questions "how" and "where". Number of threads does not mean helpful answers :O)

And about other questions. Most of the recommendations from DVInfo are few years old 'cos PD150 is 7 years old model. As I said in first post - probably something new and not costly are on market right now. And that is why I'm looking for some advice...

DVInfo is a great and unique resource.
I have read through all threads down to 2001 in ' Sony VX2100 / PD170 / PDX10 Companion' and I have dozens of links in my bookmarks from there and lots of information and advises have been kept on my computer.
And all I can do - just cross my fingers and hope one day mr.Chris Hurd will be so kind to let me in :O)

Anyway thanks for you replay :O)

Sorry... thread I was referring to turned out to be about the 170, not the 150. I'd thought they were essentially identical, but one "upgrade" I remember hearing about from the VX2000 to the 2100 (nearly identical cousins to the PDs) was a "bigger handle," so this may be a crucial change.

Anyway, here's the 170 link...

I'm looking at my VX2000 now, which should be pretty similar physically. If you remove the battery pack there's what looks like a little trap door in the battery compartment with a single screw in it.

There is also the bottom plate that surrounds the tripod mounting plate. And then there is the tripod mounting plate itself.

I'd try those.

The page wouldn't open. But now you've got us really intrigued. Can you tell us where it is?
