Need To Buy A Mountable Light Asap.help!

Hello, I would like to purchase an inexpensive mountable light for my camera(canon XL1s) online asap. I do pro work for nightclubs and I used to use my buddy's bescor and it worked pretty well. I am just wondering what mountable lights(or lighting sets w/batteries incl.) would be good for under $150, and your experience with any. I dont mind lugging around a battery pack(as that seems to be important for a lot of people)

Thank you for the help!

I have the Bescor 623D which is a good light as far as camera mounted lights go. They do have their limitations though. You won't get the best lighting with a camera mounted light but sometimes they are the only solution that works. Mainly you will get a flat appearance on people's faces because the light is straight on to them. The best lighting is from a 45 degree angle or so.

This Bescor has a 10 w bulb and a 20 w bulb and you can turn on either or both at the same time. You can get these lights with 2 20 w bulbs or 2 10 w bulbs also. This series of lights also includes the ability to aim the light at the ceiling so you can bounce the light which helps avoid the problems I mentioned before. It also has barn doors which helps you focus the light where you want it. Also this light operates on widely available sealed lead acid batteries which will give you far more run time than a lithium battery. There are 2 battery options you can choose. I'd suggest getting the bigger battery and the better charger which kicks off when the battery is charged. I didn't get that charger so I ended up buying a motorcycle battery charger that turns itself off when the battery is charged. This helps a lot. It keeps you from ruining your battery. You can buy those batteries cheap though. The smaller battery can be bought for around $10 if you look for it. The battery at this web page used to be priced at $10 but they've raised it to $18 now. Still that's pretty cheap.

The battery is heavy and IMO it's best to carry it with a fanny pack or something similar. It will pull your pants right off of you if you have it in a pants pocket. Seriously I would look into ways to carry it easier if I were you.
