I know squat about tripods???

Please ignore my ignorance for the moment. I do not know enough to know what I need to know yet. I need a cheap tripod for a Optura 600. It has a female threaded portion in the body. I got a small tripod from BestBuy. It had a ball and socket deal with a thumbscrew to tighten and hold it. Well, it does not hold it well.

What I want to be able to do is have the camcorder held snug enough to hold it still but still move it without messing with thumbscrews etc. It needs to be small and collapsible. I see some units with a handle, typically does this handle tighten the tilt and swivel? Not needing a pro grade item just something that works.

Is this something that would work or can you tell me how it tightens and swivel/pans?
