Windows doesn't recognize my FX1

Hi, i have an FX1 for more than 2 years now. It's been working like a charm since last motherobard fryed. I am running Adobe Premiere CS3 on a AMD 3200 with 1.5 gig of ram. I am also using a dedicated IDE 7200 rpm Hard drive. The thing is when i plug the camera in the firewire port ( all drivers are installed for the PCI firewire card) windows makes the sound of a new device connected, but it doesn't show up. In DV and HDV mode. I did reset the camera and checked for the iLink settings. With the camera plug in, when i open the capture screen in Premiere it says device is offline.

I really need some help to get the material off this camera.
Feel free to ask more question or suggest hypothesis/theory, i am ready to try anything this is driving me nuts

If you get the "ding" then it seems your FW ports are okay.

Common causes of your problem are a mismatch between project settings in Adobe and your cam. For example, for HDV, make sure the VCR mode on the cam is in HDV or AUTO mode, and that your Adobe project is the right HDV format, and that both capture and device control are set for HDV in your capture window.

Sometimes I need to close and re-open the capture window, and sometimes I need to switch off and restart the cam. The cam is in VCR, not CAMERA, mode, right?

Has the whole process worked in the past? If so, what has changed? Does another FW device work with your PC? You are running XP SP2, yes? Have you downloaded the latest CS3 updates from this week?

Always connect both ends of the FW cable with all power turned off at PC and cam. Even though FW is supposed to be "hot-swappable," too many people have fried FW ports in their cams this way.
