Tripod for DCR-DVD308

Hi there. I own the Sony DVD Handycam 308 model. I am looking for a tripod, narrowing it down to the VCT-870RM and the VCT-D680RM models. It looks like there is a cord/wire that you have to connect from the tripod to the camcorder, so you can access the camcorder functions right from the tripod electrical handle. Is my camcorder compatible with the mentioned tripods? If it is, where do I stick the tripod wire into the camcorder?

Thanks, Cheers

I don't know about the tripods you ask about but as to the wire you mentioned: you may be referring to a LANC connection for controlling cam functions through a tripod handle. From my reading of the specs for this cam, it does not have a LANC port. It does, however, have a wireless remote control that you should be able to use to control your cam when it is on a tripod.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input. I e-mailed my inquiry to www.bhphotovideo.com/ today. They said that my camcorder does have the LANC connection/port, so the VCT-D680RM tripod is fully compatible.

Cheers
