panasonic vdr d100

hi
i have bought a panasonic vdr-d100 and it is driving me insane.
the man at the shop said it was simple to transfer the footage i had recorded to the dvd and put it on my laptop or record to dvd to play in a normal player. he lied!
does anyone else have one of these or similar model who could help me with putting ot on my laptop and rcording to dvd.
i am a total novice with these things and i have searched and searched but the only things i find are so confusing!
i hope somebody has the time and patience to help me if so i will be forever grateful .
i can chat on MSN or AIM

Hi
I think the most important question is what type of miniDVD are you using with your vdr-d100?
Is it a DVD-R(W) or a DVD-RAM?
If you have problems using your recordings on your PC then I assume you use DVD-RAM but please confirm.
Next question would be:
What happens if you put the recorded DVD into your Labtop, open windows explorer and select the DVD drive?
Do you get an error message when accessing the disk?
Can you see folders and files on the disk?

Ok, so you have DVD-RAM.
You need to convert it to mpeg2 to play it on your PC.
You need to reauthor a new DVD-R to play it on your DVD player.
Please have a look at your PC whether you have the software Nerovision. Nerovision is included in the Nero DVD Burning package.
With Nerovision you can do both: export to mpeg2 and reauthor a DVD-R. As an alternative you can get DVD-Moviealbum software from this link(serial# included): http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t123349.html
I haven't done anything with DVD-Moviealbum but at least you should be able to use it to play your DVD-RAMs directly without any conversion.

I think that should also work.
Start a new DVD project and import the files from your DVD-RAM. Note that you need to select "Al files" otherwise NVE will not see your DVD-RAM files.
Once you have imported them press the Export button to export to mpeg2 format. Now the files are converted to mpeg2 and can be imported to any other video editor to edit a movie.
If you just want to create a DVD-R without further editing then go on in NVE and author a DVD. Here is a guide how to author a DVD with NVE4: http://www.digital-digest.com/artic...uide_page1.html
Don't forget to download DVD-Moviealbum from the link of my last post. It is a very useful tool for DVD-RAMs.
By the way, your camcorder also supports miniDVD-RW. If you buy some blank miniDVD-RWs and use them with your camcorder then you can directly play them on the PC and on your DVD-Player.

thanks again for taking time to help me!

i am going to try this over the weekend.

you mention dvd-rw , would this be an easier format to transfer to my laptop so i can burn to a playable dvd? being rw i could transfer, burn then erase off the disc. or would i still have to convert to mpeg2?

also , if i transfer through USB , would that make it easier?

thanks again so much for helping me!

Hi
Yes, miniDVD-rw would it make much easier.
Your dvd-player should directly play that 8cm dvd-rw from your camcorder.
If you can play norm DVDs on your PC then you should also be able to play the 8cm DVD-rw on your PC.
On the other hand, I think that DVD-RAMs are more reliable than miniDVD-rw. DVD-RAM behave like a harddisk, there are parity checkings going on during the burning process. DVD-rw do not have such a parity checking.

No, ICQ is a seperate one, like AOL or MSN.

Hi
How does it work with TMPGEnc DVD Author?
Did you manage to import your clips from the DVD-RAM?
