I need help ASAP.

I have a wireless microphone. When I plug it into the mic jack on my Optura 30, it isn't picking up any sound. I tested the mic, and it works just fine on it's own.

I've never been able to get an external mic to work with my Optura 30. Is there some trick to it? I've checked all the settings and I can't find anything.

Again, the mic works fine... so it's something with the camera.

It sounds like there is a problem with your camera. Almost any minijack mic should work for you if you just plug it in. I've never had any problems with my Optura 30. It does need a mic with a fairly strong signal. I have a small lav mic that is hard to hear on my Optura even though it generally works very well on other devices. I haven't quite figured out why it acts that way. Are you plugging your mic in before you turn on the camera? Have you tried other mics with your camera? It could be that your mic doesn't have a strong enough signal to be heard especially if it's a dynamic mic. You need to try a mic with it's own power supply for example. Condenser mics are best for this type of camera. What mic are you trying that doesn't work?
