I bought my HC96 a few months ago and am extremely happy with it. I have the following on my shopping list:

1. LCS-VA9 soft carrying case
2. NP-FP71 rechargeable battery pack (I was considering the NP-FH70 but realized that there's probably not much of a difference in any case)

I'm currently considering if I need a microphone and was looking at the ECM-HST1. However, I shifted my focus and would probably rather get the HVL-HL1 video light for now as I intend to have the majority of video taken indoors.

take a look at the Sony ACCFP71 kit from Amazon. For $50, you get the NP-FP71 battery, Deluxe Soft Carrying Case (LCS-VAC) and Shoulder Strap (BLT-HSB). Finding an OEM battery for this price isn't possible, throw in the other gear and I think this is a great deal.
