I am looking at buying a used dvc 80. The camera has 51 hours on it and appears to be great shape. I noticed when the camera is turned on, there is a noise coming from the body of the camera. Not sure if it is from the tape head area, but it sounds almost like a motor running.

The owner has never noticed this, and has always dubbed music in so can't tell me if the mic picks up the sound or not.

Does anyone have any thoughts? You do have to put your ear right up to the camera to hear it.
