CS3 Problem with Audio in timeline
When I import an AVI clip i make using the Mainconcept encoder, all of the audio does not appear in the timeline. It is there in the actual file when I play it but not in the timeline. When I import an mpeg2 file made with the mainconcept encoder, I get all of the video. I'm talking about large files, like the last capture was 2 hours but only see 1.5 hours of it in audio..
Any ideas?

not sure what Mainconcept is, but is it possible to export audio only? that way you could just sync it up with the audio attached to the AVI. Of course this is only a bandaid, but it could be a way around your problem.

Premiere is a "DV-avi" editor. It will transcode mpeg2 video, but perhaps this "avi" you speak of is not of the dv-avi codec.
Can you elaborate more precisely what device you are capturing with, and from what source and with what program, so that we can determine if in fact Premiere has the ability to properly read your source file if it is not a dv-avi or mpeg2

I use MainConcept.MPEG.Encoder.v1.5.1. Mainconcept was a plug in for pro 1.5 but is integrated in 2.0 and CS3, or at least it seems to be.
Maybe it is a bitrate problem? I don't really know. I started using nerovision to capture now with my osprey 220 card
Thanks

Premiere is a great program but may be the worst choice of programs for working with anything but dv-avi files. I think its a codec issue.
Two things come to mind. Did your capture device come with software. If so it may be best to use it.
Second, run your capture through Windows Movie Maker, save as a dv-avi and import that to Premiere.
If this is your main use for Premiere, I think the best choice is a different NLE personally.
