Question can not get movies onto computer for editing.

We have purchased a cannon dc210 . I have taken some footage and can not get it up on he computer so i can edit them? Im so frustrated as we got the camera as we were told that it was easy to edit and transfer , just put the disk in and your computer will read it instantly for you to edit? I missing something here I figure I need to down load something to enable this to happen. it is probally basic but just can not seem to get it ?
Thankyou to any reply thats helps us get on track... HO HO HO

Hi
What type of disk are you using with your DC210? DVD-RAM or DVD+R or DVD-R ???
Not every PC drive supports DVD-RAM.
Next question is: Do you use video mode or VR mode?
Does Windows Explorer show some files and folders on the disk or doesn't it even recognize the disk at all?
