Hi Jeff,

I've got 2 of those Pods. Have not tried to remove the heads, but have removed the Control handles for use of the wired Remote with my other larger Tri-Pods. Looks to me like the top center cover has to come off to reveal something to take apart ???????

If your going to have the shoulder mount unit, why would you need a pan head on it ?? I've made a shoulder mount, but can't see a use for having that head on it too.

If your need is for the remote control, you're better off setting up your IR Remote to do the job. Can show you how to do that.

Hi, Harold, thks for the fast reply.

My shoulder pod had a fix plate, so the camcorder can't be pan or tilt up & down, I had to turn my body for pan & squat down or up.

Now I am stuck whether to buy just a head to mount or try to smash the head out of the Sony tripod.
There must be a way to remove, if not, how they assembled it in the 1st place.

thks Harold for sharing.

Hi Jeff,

Most all Shoulder Mounts have fixed mounting plates. They are made that way to give steadiness to the Cam, and you are supposed to use your body to point the Cam where you want it. That's sort of the point.

Why don't you just use a Tri-Pod ???

Not sure how much mobility you want/need, but putting a movable head on the Shoulder Mount may be self-defeating. Where would you get that "third" hand to control it ?? My two hands are usually busy enough trying to control the Cam and steady/point the Shoulder Mount.

Maybe you could tell us what type of video you're trying to do, and why you think a moveable head mount would help.

I've made up some other Mods that may be of use to you.
