Lost Original Software

Hi all!

I've had my DCR-DVD108 for 6 months now. Recently I had to reinstall Windows and when I started looking for the original CD that came with the camera, it was gone. Basically I lost it.
Now when I connect the camera to the computer, it only recognizes it as a DVD drive and I can't sync the video with the PC. So, I can finalize the DVD and copy it, but that's it.
On the Sony website I can order the original software for $62.99 !!! I e-mailed them asking for help, but they said they don't make the software available for download :-(
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can find a solution to this problem? I think it's very unfair for Sony to ask me to pay for this again. I know I goofed up by losing the CD, but it can happen to anyone.

Thanks!
