Canon MVX330i, totally dead.Self repair an option?

So, the other day i turned by vid cam on to take some night shots of the city. It turned on, the suddenly the lcd went all greyish and distorted, then it went black.
The ON light didnt show up, the lcd didnt work, nor the view finder. I put it on to charge thinking maybe the battery was flat. Nothing, the charge light doesnt come up. Even tapes dont eject, with the lowest battery tapes always ejected.
So now ive got a tape stuck in the cam corder, and its broken.

No idea what the problem is, and not sure if i want to pay someone to tell me its un-fixable or gonna cost a bundle to repair.

Can i get the tape out?
Also, i noticed a few weeks before the lcd hinge had gone sloppy and something was loose, i could hear something rolling around inside the camera by the hinge, maybe a screw. Possible it has fallen over a circuit board and fried it. Thats all i can think of. Wonder if i could open it up and try to find it, anyone ever taken a peek inside their cam?
