Faulty LCD screen

It's only been three months since we acquired our PV-GS65, and already the LCD screen is showing a sign of problems. Whenever I pull the screen out from its housing, it works fine. However, when I try to swivel it upward, the display goes blank. I try to swivel it downward, and it comes back, but when I swivel it again to its original position, it blacks out once more. If it weren't for the viewfinder as backup, the camcorder would be practically useless by now.

Any remedies I can try before I finally have the unit repaired? It's still under warranty, but the authorized service center is a good hour and a half's drive away from home. Thanks.

It could just be a loose wire. Get ready for the Panasonic $161.50 "standard service fee" though.

Is that a Panasonic service center you are near? For me the nearest one is about a three hour plane flight and Panasonic has a k00l 6 weeks turnaround by mail.

Three-hour flight? Yikes, that's even worse.

Yes, that's a Panasonic service center. Now that you mentioned it, I do recall them charging a certain service fee, but that's only if you decide to have the unit repaired someplace else, after they have evaluated it.
