dcr sr60 stops recording.

My dcr sr60 keeps stopping after a few minutes. I think this may be a battery issue but I'm not sure. I have it set to shut off never. The lower the battery gets the less time it records. It goes on standby and when I check it says it has battery remaining. It will start recording again when press the rec button, then shut off. Why won't it just run until the battery is dead? It seems to not do this when someone is holding the camera or when it is plugged in.

Hi,

Did you get anywhere with tracing the problem?

I have a dcr-sr35 with the same issue. I leave it recording and sometimes it just stops and goes back to standby.

Any ideas of how to solve it would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Well, I returned the camera ( they only swapped the camera and box - all teh leads and the battery they asked me to keep).

But... no difference - it still keeps stopping after 2 or 3 minutes but every so often works fine.

If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks
John

Well I think I've solved it.

The problem was happening when I recorded live bands using a tripod or table. I read about other dard disc devices suffering with vibtrations so tried sitting the sony on a towel. Works perfectly. I've done several recordings without a glitch since I switched to damping the vibrations.

Cheers
John

I was once at a huge party with my laptop and the music was out of this world loud, and then there was even some live bands at the party. My laptop was going crazy. I guess HDD + loud music =
