Setting audio for an external Lavalier mike

Hello folks,
I am trying to set up an audio on HX A1 for the first time. I did connect external LAV mike into XLR CH1 INPUT TERMINAL. I went to menu, set XLR input ON. And there is no audio at all. When I return XLR setting back OFF, audio is fine coming from build-in microphone. I did try to put LINE MIC switch to both position, no difference. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for any input or advise.

What brand Mic.? Plug in a headphone to the receiver and try to isolate the audio. Bad cable? Wrong import on the receiver?

ALSO....the audio pots are backwards on this camera. If you are manual audio, they could be turned down.

Did you set the input channel too? (in the Audio Setup menu)

You may also need to turn up the gain and turn on phantom power for the mic. See page 44 of the manual for more info.

Thanks Ray for the reply. I am waiting his reply. If the LAV is a wireless, then the Phabtom power is not an issue as it has a battery system. If it's just a passive plug-in LAV(doubtful) no phantom power is necessary.

Hello guys,
thank you both so much for your inputs. Lav I am using is Sennheiser. It seems to work fine, because it works on my other camera. It has own batteries, so I am assuming that phantom power should not be needed, however, I will try to turn it on. I did try to crank up gain, it did not work.
Ray, how do I set Input channel in the menu. Only options available to set in audio menu are:
aud.m.set (normal or line out)
mic mode (normal or voice or WS)
mic sensitivity (normal or high)
XLR input (off or on)
XLR gain
They are all set for normal except XLR input set ON
Am I missing something?
Thank you guys again.

Try another mic. in that XLR connector or try the other XLR connector.

ALSO....is the attenuator selected to ON in the XLR area?

What happens?
