Where do the files go???

Can anyone help...

I have been working on a couple of projects on Pinnacle 11 using photographs put to music, captions, etc.

I store all my footage, etc and the projects themselves on my D drive which i use as a storage drive.

However - somehow Pinnacle has managed to fill up my C drive aswell. I had about 3GB left on it and after putting together these 2 photo projects i have only 500MB. I've looked on the C drive but cannot locate any of the files, etc.

Can anyone help so i can tell pinnacle to put the stuff on my D drive or can anyone tell me where pinnacle will be storing the files on my C drive

Many thanks in advance...

I don't use Pinnacle but I'm guessing there is a place in your preferences or options where you can specify the location of the work or temporary files. You may store all your source data & Pinnacle files on the D drive, but programs need a place to put the files they create when rendering. Normally, that defaults to the C drive but most programs allow you to change that.

Also, once you find the current location of the work files, after changing it to the D drive, go into Explorer (if you use Windows) & delete any work files that may still be left out there.

In my version of Studio, in Setup, Project Preference, you can change the folder where auxiliary files are stored. You will be able to see the current folder, and then delete the old files to redeem disk space.

I've already tried these solutions - no joy...

The folder in the settings is set in the D drive where I want it to go but it seems as though it is doubling it up on the C drive somewhere and i cannot find where...

Any more ideas greatly welcomed...

If you've checked all your settings in Pinnacle, then how do you know it's Pinnacle that's doing this? If it's based upon a folder name that is Pinnacle's then there's a setting you're overlooking.

Otherwise, it may be some other program.

I was using pinnacle at the time with no other program running... before i started the projects i had about 3gb and after some time and a couple of renders i had a lot less left - conclusion: Pinnacle did it...

Any other ideas greatfully received.

Well then, if you're convinced Pinnacle did it...you're overlooking some setting where Pinnacle is using temp files on you C drive. Pure & simple.

Try looking in My Documents, Pinnacle Studio, my disk images. That is the default folder for any output for projects rendered or finished.

where is c drive being filled?

Go to my docs on drive C - (your main drive)
Then click on pinicle and then "my projects"
before opening projects (just to satisfy your curiosity)
right click on "projects folder" and see how big it is.

your final projects will always go here unless you specify another area, as preveus threads say. excuse spelling please lol
