Capturing HD from a HDR-HC7

I have recently bought a HDR-HC7 camcorder and I am new to HD. I am trying to learn how to use the camcorder and learn the capabilities of this camcorder. At the moment I am stuck trying to import/capture my HD video onto my computer. I a wondering what cable to use, a USB, iLINK, or a firewire? My user manual says to use the iLINK but it seems that nothing can play it. Help would be appreciated in any way.

You must use i.Link, which is Sony's name for Firewire, which is Apple's name for IEEE 1394.

USB is for still photos only on this cam.

You need a firewire port on your PC. Your editing app controls the capture. If you have Vista then Windows Movie Maker will do HDV. The older versions that work with XP will not. And this is a very basic program.
