Old Sony Handycam question

I have a Sony Handycam CCD-TRV308. I'm using my newer Sony, which accepts pass-through, to convert old tapes to digital so I can edit and burn them. I've done it successfully with VHS tapes but can't figure out how to plug the older Handycam in. It seems to have only one a/v jack, and the standard a/v plugs just fall right out of it. What am I missing?

If Jockey's suggestion does't work, how about giving us some details?
1. What is the model number of your newer Sony?
2. What kind of A/V output jacks are on the 308?
3. Since the newer Sony only has one A/V jack, it must have come with an A/V cable with RCA plugs on the other end. If it did, then Jockey's suggestion should work.

The 308 has an s-video jack and then one small thing that says "A/V out." It looks about the size for the usual red / yellow a/v connectors, but must be just slightly bigger, because they don't stay. I was trying to avoid buying an s-video cable since I've got the new camcorder and will only be using the old one to transfer tapes, but that might be the only way to solve this. My new camera is a Sony DCR-HC96.

I looked up the CCD-TRV308 on the Internet and that description said that "Included in box: AC-L10 power adapter/in-camera charger; NP-FM30 InfoLithium battery; mono A/V cable; lens cap; shoulder strap"
So you should be able to plug that cable into the 308 and connect the other end to the HC96 inputs. Since I don't know what that cable looks like, I don't know if you will need any adapters to connect the 2 camcorders together but I think you should be able to figure it out and get the needed adapters at Radio Shack.

I was thinking your newer Sony might be a Digital8 camcorder but it is a MiniDV so that ends that train of thought.

I hope you still have the A/V cable that came with your 308.

gottamac:

You will need adapters like Jockey said (Female to Female barrel connectors.)

DaveC determined that you should have a "mono A/V cable" so one cable is video and one is the mono audio.

You can just plug the one mono audio cable into the HC96 cable (with the adapter above) or you can get a "Y" RCA adapter to split the one mono audio cable into two cables to plug into the two audio connectors on your HC96.

It all sounds more confusing than it is.
