Muting sound on PV-GS83

I have a PV-GS83. Everything works just fine. However, I want to shoot a video and mute the sound for a voice over track.
I use Windows Movie Maker and can add a video and a separate audio track, but sound from the video bleeds through.
Any idea if the sound can be muted at the camera?

You can not mute the sound in the camcorder.

But you can mute the track in Movie Maker, and then add your audio track on the lower track (I forget what it is called).
