No sound in Video Studio 11
I recently purchased a Sony DCR-SR300. I also purchased Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus after reading about it here and other places. I installed the app and it worked fine. I then made a stupid mistake, I decided to install updates. I installed 2 updates and the program locked and wouldn't work. I tried uninstalling and it didn't work correctly, so I ended up restoring the system to a time before I installed the product. I finally got it up and running but now I have no sound on several of my clips. None of my Sony clips have sound and I do have the 5.1 Surround button on. Several of my older clips work but the AVI don't. THEY ALL WORKED BEFORE!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a suggestion.
Go back over to the Ulead board and read the answer to the question by twodogs and lancecarr! Hehehe! I'm following you.
Basically follow the instruction ofr a clean uninstall then reinstall. THEN, make sure you know the exact order in which to apply the updates/patches etc and it should be fine.

Thanks. I didn't think of the Corel board until I posted here. I figured I'd double my chances. Thanks for responding and helping someone new to Video.

Thanks All!
I decided to load VideoStudio 11 on the computer my daughter gave me. It's a Dell XPS 400 Duo Core (not sure the speed) and 2GB memory. I loaded the application and all updates and it worked great. I also loaded a codec to enable thumbnails in windows for the MGEG file, it also enables you to play the clips in Windows medai player. It was called Stinky's MPEG-2 codec 1.2.0.79. Now I just need a new Graphics card. I have a 7000 series nVidia 128mb and it doesn't cut it for playback of the "sample" video. My daughter the computer geek with a MS in Psychology found me an Nvidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB card fron Newegg for $70 bucks after rebate. So now I have to decide if I tell my wife I need a new graphics card after spending $650 for a camera and $50 for software. Hmmmmm, it begins...

That's great it worked out.
One word of warning on loading codecs...especially freebies. Don't ever load "codec packs" that claim to play everything, often they are unlicensed or unapproved or are not standard. They can register themslves within windows and unregister the correct ones.

Thanks Lancecarr! I did some checking on this codec and it was supposed to just enable the "thumbnails" in Windows. I've also read enough to know that installing codecs can be dangerous. I'm happy I can see and hear everything now and I'm done installing... I'm looking forward to my business trip in Souther California next week when I can finally try and shoot some footage.
