Exclamation faced with an amazing problem in SONY DCR-HC42E

i have a SONY DCR-HC42E camcorder. one day i had copied videos through USB on my computer while i had copied earlier also. but this time after completing the task, i switched it off and disconnected completely. after 3-4 hrs. i started the camera in camera tape mode without connecting it to any devices, and found the background blue screen has disappeared but image formatation is there. i closed the lcd screen and again opened now it was working properly. i repeated it three or four time and it was working properly at that time . i kept the camera for 10-15 day after switching off. one day i started again and the same problem arose. when i closed d lcd panel and opened again there was no image in lcd screen while in view finder it was proper. i tried to close/open 3-4 times and also after switching off/on but it was not started with lcd screen. after a day i was planing to go to its service centre. i again started the camera, this time it was operating through view finder only and after 2-3 minutes it switched off automatically. i thought that it is in standby mode so i tried to started it again. but this time my camcorder has become dead completely.

what should b the reasons behind this?

regards,

ravi

Since you have lots of details, which may or may not have any relevance to the source the problem, I have difficult time getting to the real issue. Is your camcorder working fine now? Does it turn on and record video? Is your heart of the problem the LCD screens, not responding to different CAMCORDER MODES? If that is the case check Sony support for your model and look at CCD block assembly, many camcorders and cameras were recalled because of its problems.

Since I’m just guessing I hope you’re not speaking about 5 minutes safety features that Sony mini DV incorporate into the camera mode. The camcorder turns off on its own unless you begin recording.

when the camcorder is completely dead how it can work? but when there was a problem of LCD (i.e. no picture, no background screen and not properly sensing the touch screen) but it was recording in both the modes. since i was not able to play so i can't say how was it's quality?

but the next when the set became completely dead, nothing can be done.

Hi,

^ I probably didn‘t understand your original post. When camcorder no longer responds anyway or shape it’s usually a battery issue, such as battery is low, bad or possibly AC adapter does not make connections. But as you say, it’s no longer working at all. It’s possible that it had a catastrophic event; some IC chip is no longer working, or short circuited etc.
