Comparisson of Premier Pro vs Elements

I have used Premier 6.5 for some time now and need to move to a program that I can edit HDV with. Will I miss much if I just go to Elements? I have had a dedicated Pinnacle DV500 card with an MPEG encoder, is the software encoder in PP the same as the one in Elements?

I have never used elements, but I am assuming you would. Have you considered upgrading rather than downgrading?

The reason I am considering Elements is it has a lower cost than Premier Pro upgrade, about half.
