Need some help!!!!!! New User

I just downloaded PE4 and have had some issues. First the scene detect doesn't seem to work with my Sony HDV camera. It transfers the entire tape in one big section. Then I have to go back and try to cut the big clip at the exact right moment where my time markers are on the tape. Second problem is that when I transfered my second tape onto my computer and went to playback the audio did not match up with the video. Third, How come when I put a transition into the video it just plays through the video from A-B instread of starting on A then my next scene B comes in with dissolve or whatever I choose. Is there an easier program for beginners. I have a blu-ray burner and am looking to burn most of my HDV video to blu-ray's. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Hodie,
1: Premiere Elements does not scene detect HDV, you can capture using a program called HDVSplit, them import the files into Premiere Elements.

2: This is a question for someone that knows more about HDV than I do. Are you sure you have set up a HDV project? Check out the Premiere Elements 4 HDV forum here http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=12

Lots of knowledgeable people to answer that question.

3: This could be that you need to render the preview by pressing Enter, or that you have just split a clip and stuck a transition in the middle (won't work that way with any program). Here is a small demonstration of how Transitions work in Premiere Elements

Hope that helps

It does, but you have to use content scene detection instead of date/time (timecode).

Detects breaks using changes in content. This process occurs after capture and can be used on any video clip in Project view. When you use content scene detection, new instances of the clip are added to a folder in Project view. Each instance contains the entire content, but is trimmed to a scene. Content scene detection is project specific. If you run content scene detection on a clip and then import the clip into another project, you’ll have to run content scene detection on it again. Only the original clip appears in the Organizer.

This is usually not an option for most people, that is why they are using HDVSplit rather than Content Scene Detection.

How come? I'm not an Elements user so I'm curious why...

Sony's Vegas Movie Studio 8 works perfect with the scene detect. I tried using HDV Split but it kept on stopping after the first clip was played. Any idea about that? I just think they should patch the issue for consumers.

All of the above would be why most people don't like it.
It doesn't actually split the footage into clips for one thing and if you want to use it in another project you have to split it again, what a waste of time

Hodie,
I am not familiar with how HDVSplit works but there are many at the muvipix forum that use it and could help.

Try Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus - it is simple, easy to use and powerful enough for the home user.

That is why we have Pinnacle users coming to muvipix and the Adobe forum by the 100's, because it works so well
