Help with Sony DCR PC101 Playback
I purchased a like new (used) Sony DCR PC101 with all the accessories and the manual. I am planning on using it to film my husband while he is drag racing. I only need to film the start, but would like to slow down the playback as close to as possible without stop action stills. I'd like to know if anyone knows if/how I can play back in slow motion at a decreasing speed? Does that make sense? I have figured out how to do zoomed in/slow motion playback, I don't know how to decrease the speed of the playback gradually. I pretty saw someone do this with the same camcorder last year and that is why I got this one.
Also, what setting do you recommend I use while filming? SPORTS is my assumption.
Thanks,

I looked in your camcorder model manual page #41. Its functions are exactly like my model PC105. You can playback recorded video in VARIOUS PLAYBACK MODES, (Menu VCR>FN.>PAGE3>V SPD PLAY for slow, speed, frame-by-frame etc.) But I do not see a variable slow speed capability in the manual. Are you sure the model was PC101?
There are ways to create same slow motion effect in the video editor, including Windows Movie Maker (slow down ½). Others you can drag video clip on the time line to create slow motion. If you are adventuresome you can use free tools like VirtualDub and Avisynth to create slow motion video. Avisynth is more difficult because it’s a video scripted software program. You can Google search for “avisynth slow motion” or “virtualdub slow motion”. There are many posts from internet that should help you as long as you don’t get intimidated depending on your level of knowledge.

TS-
Thanks for your reply. I know the model is correct, but I'm not sure the person actually did do what I mentioned. My husband thinks he did. Unfortunately, I have been able to contact them. I appreciate your helpful reply. I do plan on trying some software and experimenting with the videos. I did have some good success at the track this past weekend and we are very excited about this camera. We don't have time at track to do anything other that watch the playback.
