Have any of you tried the external MIC's available from Sony for this model?

ECMHST1 Stereo Mic
ECMHGZ1 - Shotgun Mic

I will be using my camera mostly for live band recordings and events, like weddings, parties etc. I am afraid that the sound level of a live band will overload the mic and cause distortion. Is one better the other for these types of situations?
