Question Editing with iMovie and the HF10

Hey guys, I've been looking at AVCHD camcorders for about a year, but I've been waiting on a flash based camcorder that has comparable to quality to HDV. Looks like that has finally arrived with the HF10. I have two questions. Do you anticipate much compatibility issues between the HF10 and iMovie '08? (If there are, do you think Apple would correct this via software update?)
Also, has anyone tried using the "High" video quality rather than "Full" in iMovie? I doubt my computer (Macbook, 2 GHz and 2 GB of ram) would run smoothly using the full HD, and the high format would be more than sufficient for my purposes. I would like to use iMovie '08 for importing and organization, and iMovie HD for editing.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,

I just bought an HG10 two weeks ago and use iMovie '08. I too considered the HF10/100, but the delivered price of $621 swayed me to go with the HG10 now, and in a couple years upgrade to the latest and greatest.

I've been importing my video in the Full quality setting and outputting to the iMovie built in 960x540 output for my AppleTV -> TV, I've just started playing with saving an archival copy of the footage in either 720 or 1080.

I have iMovie HD installed but honestly I don't use it any more, I just came around to iMovie '08 and now prefer it. Your computer should be fast enough, the conversion to AIC may take longer, but it's a very easy on the computer codec for editing.

Good luck
