Need Help w/ older DCR-DVD300
Maybe internal battery issue..not sure
I have an older Sony mini DVD model DCR-300 that constantly goes black on me. I can record as long as I want after charging batteries, but if I stop shooting for less than a minute it goes black and I have to put a pencil point in the reset button and then put the date and time in all over again each and every time I want to shoot. So long as I keep shooting, I'm good for a whole disk, but I have to start from scratch if I stop for any time. I do not loose what I shot on the disk thankfully.
I feel like there must be a small internal battery that keeps the settings that is dead, but I can't find any reference to it in the owners manual.
This problem just started a few months ago and has never happened before. The camera is about five years old.
Does anyone have any idea what to do about this problem?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum and thanks.

It sounds very much like you are correct on the internal battery.
There is one and it is not accessable by the user.
I'm afraid the only way to change it or even get it checked is by taking it in for servicing.

If it is like the 103/203/403 series, under the Standard Menu, there is an "Auto Shutter Off" selection that has a time limit and "never" as the choices. You might try "never" if it isn't already on that.

I sure hope that's it! I find it odd that there is now mention of this battery in the manual, but there has to be one or what would keep the clock correct?
I do not want to send it to Sony if it is the battery.
Does anyone have a recomendation for a service center, perferably on the east coast?
Can Best Buy do it where I bought it "in house" or maybe Circut City?
