A good microphone for my camera

I recently got a Panasonic HDC-SD1 and it was on sale for $699.99 and
I thought the price was great and picked one up and the newer SD ones
like the HDC-SD5 and SD9 were downgraded like smaller CDD's.

Anyway, It does not have accessory shoe but has a MIC jack and I was
looking for some good microphones but the 5.1 built in MIC was all right
but I want it less home movie like and more professional with an external
MIC.

I am new to this and this might sound stupid but is there any shotgun
microphones that you do not need a shoe for? This for outdoor video.

You can buy brackets that mount to your tripod screw threads that will add accessory shoes to your rig. You can find an example on this web page. You can still mount to a tripod with this bracket. Obviously this adds a large attachment to your camera and also you have to pay attention that your view finder won't be in the way of the bracket. But it will give you a place to mount a mic if you want to go this way.

I have one of these brackets. It works great with my older camera but my newer camera has a bigger view finder and it won't work with this bracket.

Hey King Ghidora, I found a bracket on my accessory paper and I might be
thinking of getting one for audio and also video lights. The one you listed
seems great for what I need so I could attached a shotgun microphone for
it and the rode shotguns looked good for nature videos.

This one NuGagets seems better than the Panasonic because the LCD ain't
blocked.

I agree with King Ghidora on this one Mr. Nick. You just need brackets.
