steadicam for 35mm adapters!

I'm looking for a steadicam, not very expensive for my system rig(hvx200, m2 RR, FF, Rod Supp, mattebox) that weighs about 15-16lbs. I've just found this Varizoom "FlowCam GT" http://www.varizoom.com/products/stabilizers/vzgt.html
Looks great, cheap (I guess) and can support 16lbs (camera weight).
I don't know much about steadicams, and I don't have much money either, I want to spent max. 4000$. The FlowCam GT looks very "fragile" , I have no idea how this will stabilize. What do you think? Should I buy it? What would you buy?
Any other suggestion for my rig?
Thank you, excuse my english!

I've never used any kind of steadicam device but if your cam is 15-16 pounds and this thing has a 16 pound limit, I think you are cutting it kind of close. I would think you'd want a little more margin than that.

Some day you might want to put a light, a mic, a bigger battery and an LCD panel onto your rig. Even one or two of those might put you over the limit. I don't know if there's anything else in your price range but if you do get this unit at least be aware of the limitations you're putting on yourself.

Good luck.

I would visit the The Hombuilt Stabilizer Group
http://www.hbsboard.com/

There are a lot of good forums there and you can learn a lot if you read through some of them like: Tips for buyers testing out a commercial rig? http://hbsboard.com/index.php?PHPSE...b5&topic=3208.0

Su inglés es muy bueno.
