Spartan HV-30
Hallo from Greece,
I just received the HV30 i ordered and i am very happy with all the things i'm about to do with it. it is in top condition, the only thing that worried me.
However, I must forget about 24p and 30p, as my HV-30 only supports 25p.
Anyone?
(For once i thought i was fooled 'n' handed a painted-over hv-20, but I think in this corner of the world everything is possible)
hdv mode exists, that's for sure

The HV30 you have is the PAL version.
Greece uses PAL television standards.
The HV30 NTSC version for countries which use NTSC has the 30P.

It takes 24hz, 60hz frame rate and converts it to 120hz. I've watched a couple of different movies at bestbuy with this tv. One was pirates of the caribbean bluray and the other was transformers HD-DVD. With the auto motion plus off, they just look like high quality HD movies but when you turn on the auto motion plus it is a different story. They look like a discovery or history channel documentary shot with an HD video camera. I also watched regular network channels that have 60hz frame rate and bumping it up to 120hz didn't make such a difference. But it definitely makes Hollywood movies look like network documentaries. So I would say frame rate is very important and I do see a difference between shooting 24p and 60i mode.

Interesting article indeed, so are the links it contains, although the editor's example that blew 24p away was at full daylight, things may get different late afternoon or indoors, like Matt Damon inside the car (i think?)...
But in the case of the PAL region HV30 the point is not what is good or film-like (I never mentioned such), the point is that one gets two options and the other gets one.
Heck, I could also use some 30p!
