Canon ZR930 Headphones?

Hi,
I just got a ZR930 for my birthday today. I read that you can use the AV output with headphones to monitor your audio. When I plugged in headphones the right side was all static, and the left played the audio perfectly. I set the audio to 16bit so it records on both the left and right channel, and I also checked it on 12bit but I still had the same problem. I am not sure what is going on.

Can anyone help me out?
Do I need some sort of adapter?

Thanks!

For anyone that cares, I solved the problem. The ZR900 series does not have a headphone jack. You cannot merely plug in your headphones and have it work. I went on eBay and bought a RCA to headphone (female) cable, and another Mini Jack (AV) to RCA cable. If you connect the two you can use headphones perfectly and hear on both the right an left.

I decided that the cable was to long, so I cut the RCA ends off of both the cables then soldered them back together, and used some heat shrink tubing to make a 4" headphone cable that works perfectly, and isn't bulky. So I plug the mini plug into to the camcorder, and 4" away is a working stereo headphone jack.
