Hi,

I received my HG10 a few days ago and I'm very happy with it. Only one thing bugs me:

When the camcorder is turned off and I shake it slightly, I can hear a clicking noise from inside, like a moving part or something.

As soon as I turn the camera on, it goes away or is almost not noticeable anymore.

Should I be concerned or is that normal?

I haven't had a chance to swing by a local electronics store and see if their floor models are behaving the same way. Maybe you HG10 owners can help me.

It is a common question which comes up with camcorders and cameras which have Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). A rattle when the unit is not in the record mode or turned off which goes away when powered up or placed in the record mode. OIS works by using mechanical gyros and/or prisms within the camera to compensate for camera motion which will make a metallic sound when not powered up. Descriptions of the sounds vary.
