DVD burning problems
Hi,
I've had a DCR-SR70E for the past 12 months or so and while happy with it I found a slow process uploading and burning to DVD.
Upgraded my pc to try and overcome this problem, new pc is running Vista so I am now unable to use the image mixer software supplied.
I have installed picture motion browser from Sony's website and all runs ok until I try to burn a dvd, I get to 50% through the burning process and then get the following error message. Authoring Tool For DVD, Cannot write to the disc because an error occurred.
I've tried several times with different discs (including Sony ones) but get the same error every time, also ensured internet browser is not running.
The dvd drive is working fine, I have made copies of cctv footage using a different program and burnt these with no problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, i've just videod my mother in laws surprise 70th Birthday party and have promissed to send copies to several people.
Cheers Mark

What are your computer specs (ram, processor, etc..)? So your saying you can edit your video but when burning to disc, you get your error, right? If so, my guess is its a driver issue but could be the software. I would suggest you try a different dvd burner software to see if you get the same problem. Others can chime in here for different software to use. I hear alot about problems with vista. Did you upgrade to SP1 for vista? Vista being a memory hog, hope you have more than 2GB installed.

Hi pc specs are intel core2 quad @2.4GHz and 2MB ram. I have burnt dvd's with another program so don't think it is a driver problem.
Any advice on alternative software to try would be very much appreciated.
Cheers

Try windows movie maker. After you finish editing, see if it will let you burn with the windows software. Might be the software your using is having problems. Since your beginning to edit movies, might want to try sony vegas. They have a free demo for you to try. There basic package runs around 80 bucks. 2GB ram for vista is small as vista is a memory/resource hog and could possibly be choking (to much virtual memory being used).

Thanks for the help, I have tried both windows movie maker and nero 8 and have no problems with either of these, must be a software problem with picture motion browser. I will also be looking into extra memory, I wasn't aware how much Vista uses.
Great forum and once again thanks.
